This is an anthology of the works of 37 Native North American 20th-century writers, which contains extensive details of their lives and times. Among the writers included is Louise Erdrich, a Chippewa novelist and poet whose works include “The Beet Queen”, “Tracks” and “Love Medicine”. N. Scott Momaday, a novelist whose book “House Made of Dawn” was the first work by a Native American to win a Pulitzer Prize, also appears in the anthology, together with Simon Ortiz, an Acoma Pueblo and a much-respected writer.
