Since August 25th 2012, it’s been a joyous and momentous occasion in my life to be garnished by a crown and title so admirable. I consider my reign a true blessing from God, as well as a challenge to overcome the negative prospectors. I hope that the road is now paved with respect and awareness for our future Miss Native American, USA title holders. I’m in hopes that as she walks into a room, eyes will continue to grace at not only her beauty, but admiration for her hard work and dedication. I continue to say, this pageant is history in the making. We are here tonight to witness part 2 in this story, as we crown only the second title holder of Miss Native American, USA.

In participating in this pageant one year ago, I’ve seen direct changes and advancement from the learning experiences gained. I owe great gratitude to all my supporters and to the selfless staff working with the MNAUSA Organization. Who knew that around this time last year, I was not only prepping myself to win the title but also preparing to shed and overcome fears of performing for an audience? This life changing experience is one that will never be forgotten. It’s been a hard-working, but privileged honor, to devote my time to my platform; Alcohol, Health and Nutrition Awareness. I’ve made speeches throughout the year, radio interviews,
parades, photo shoots, and even been given the opportunity to share my talent at events.
I would like to end by thanking God for aiding me in confidence and allowing this opportunity into my life. To my family and friends, thank for your moral support, and for standing beside me. To my parents, Terry and Pamela Laurence, who have always pushed me and provided my traditional wear, thank you for your generosity! I’d like to wish all contestants the best of luck in tonight’s pageant. I pray that they leave tonight feeling a sense of accomplishment in their lives, regardless of the outcome, you are all winners!
