Benefits

  • Excellent source of nectar for butterflies and other pollinators in early spring
  • Longest blooming period of all cinquefoils

  • Seed capsules provide fall and winter food for songbirds as well as quail and grouse
  • Deer resistant

Homeowner Growing and Maintenance Tips

  • Will grow in sun to light shade but flowers best in full sun.
  • Prefers moist, well-drained soil but grows well in poor dry sites, too.
  • Very cold tolerant.
  • To keep a dense rounded habit, cut the entire plant back every two to three years. This type of renewal pruning should be done when the plant is dormant in late winter.
