From the Killerwhale CLAN of the Haisla Nation, JOHN WILSON is well on his way to becoming an established carver. He began to carve full-time in 2002 and worked early on with Tsimshian artist Heber Reece. He is primarily inspired by the work of Ron Telek, Norman Tait, Klatle Bhi and Henry Green. In 2008, he completed courses at the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art in design and carving. John is dedicated to promoting and RESEARCHING Haisla art, and in 2010 he worked with fellow Haisla artist Nathan Wilson.
