Fort McKay-Alberta

The Fort McKay First Nation is a signatory to Treaty 8 and belongs to the Athabasca Tribal Council. Fort McKay is considered one of the most progressive First Nations in Canada, and has established a wide range of oil industry-based companies that provide employment opportunities and revenue for the community.

Because of its geographic location, Fort McKay has had many opportunities to work with several oilsands industries by developing its own companies. Fort McKay has capitalized on these opportunities and has participated inthe regional economy to create sustainable, long-term growth and development for their community.
