The headdress includes approximately 300 imitation magpie feathers tipped with white hackles and attached to a domed felt cap. A vertical arch of 12 wild turkey tail fan feathers tipped with white hackles and red dyed horse hair dangles extend out from the back of the headpiece (each of these feathers is wrapped in red wool trade cloth and imitation sinew).

A single balance wrapped in turquoise, black, white, and red quills and finished with a turkey plume stands at the crest the headpiece.

The front of the headdress features a band of quillwork (plated) with a red, black, and turquoise geometric design on a white background. The top of the band is adorned with metal bells and the edges are finished with tiny light blue glass beads.
